about

David and I were discussing our early cassette albums in the summer of 2021 and we realised that we made 60-minute cassette albums because we had no access to the C46 format (I think we were unaware of it). In fact it was late in 1982 when we started to issue albums around the 40-45-minute mark.
Reviewing these early albums I have found it very easy to condense them from around 60 minutes to 45 minutes and in doing so we have jettisoned some weak material and produced albums that, despite the child-like or juvenile vibe in places, are quite listenable.
David and I also discussed titles and though some of the more silly or offensive titles cannot be erased from history, we can at least modify some of the titles in acknowledgement of our (my) occasional poor taste. At the time I was amazed at some of the track titles found on Canterbury-era and industrial albums. Bands like Throbbing Gristle, Whitehouse and Nurse With Wound had titles that were shocking. However, where they might defend those titles vigorously, I have no grounds other than poor taste for some of the titles I devised.
Thus, although the associated images have not been Photoshopped to remove offensive material, the track titles (and the track orders) have been changed.
Rob Andrews.
